The Beacons of Tomorrow

So the one thing that can get me out of summer-hangover and sadness and boredom and lack of creative writing is this. This. THIS PICTURE!!

Sherlock, my sharp Assassin, the defeater of death.

BTAfAHcCUAEnQRjTOMORROW!!! We are getting a trailer tomorrow!!!

Excitement, that’s what feeds my power to be effective. Give me news, give me inspiration, give me Sherlock!

Yes, I feel bloody inspired now. Ready to start a whole rampage of deductions based on three pictures.

So, we’ll be getting a full trailer. No more a teaser with 6 shots, a real beautiful perfect trailer, 3 minutes and 20 seconds in length? Well, one may hope so, but that is more likely to be the hour at which this photograph was taken.

This picture will be at the very start of the trailer and it shows Sherlock back in the place, at the height of his fall, in a place that looks very much like the roof of St. Barts. But it isn’t. Looks more like Florence than London, actually.

Yep, 3:19 is definitely the hour. And it’s definitely London.

I don’t know where he is, though. It’s on the same shore of the Thames as the Big Ben, but I’m not sure. It’s definitely somewhere past the bridge that leads to a park that leads to London Eye. Any extra information here would be desirable.

The lone protector, watching over his home and over the friends he has lost. It’s a cold shot, both through the colours and the filming style. It’s so lonely. I keep on seeing that that is what I love so much at the series. Yes, it’s weird, but I love how well they show the loneliness. They don’t talk and no lines are written, but you see the pain on their faces, the pain of being alone. There are many topics that stir my interest, but loneliness has to be the one I can connect to most easily.

And Benedict takes Sherlock’s feelings to a whole different level.

BTAUn0TCAAIhGR5Ok, so after contemplating London, Sherlock meets John.

It won’t be an actual trailer, more like a part of a promo for the BBC. But a scene is a scene and joy is joy. I just hope they won’t limit their release to the 3 scenes I just showed you.

God no.

BBC, you had your toll with me and Doctor Who, don’t do it again. Again.

And thank you, Tigra, for refreshing my memory. Not only is Sherlock looking over London like the badass that he is, he also stands in an almost identical position as the world’s other most famous British saviour, good ol’ James Bond.

skyfall-james-bond-trailer

We, the fans of everything British salute this wonderful memento. It actually makes Sherlock even more awesome. Him being almost like the Robin to Bond’s Batman. Sort of.

Skyfall may not have been the masterpiece Sherlock is, but it was an improvement. Thank God for the Dark Knight.

HURRAY!!! WE’RE GETTING DIALOGUE!

I love you too, random citizen for asking that marvelous question. You have just spared us of hours and hours of tossing and turning and crying over the uncertainty.

A Change of Heart

It’s different. It’s all going to be different.

Conan Doyle went out the easy way and had John forgive Sherlock the moment he woke up from his first and only faint. Tell me this. What sort of friend, at the reveal of his best friend’s still-alive status, would just faint, without cursing, punching and bringing some bruises up that bastard’s face for leaving you to suffer, for leaving you in terrible pain and guilt for THREE YEARS? Does John really fit in the pattern of the damsel reaction?

Heck no. He survived the war! Obviously not.

And Sherlock knows it too.

Whoever came with the rumor that the scenes are not from the movie needs to faint a bit. Even thought special footage can be shot for trailers, all those scenes fit perfectly in the film. The atmosphere is too well created to be just a made-up scene. Every actor moves within their character perfectly within a context. I don’t know what will happen next from now on, but all those scenes will probably make up some important pieces of the first episode.

But there’s no sense in supposing when the release is so close, I can almost taste it. Only a few months left, darlings, we’re still doing great. We can tell nothing from the scenes…

Other than the fact that Mycroft knew that Sherlock wasn’t dead, that Molly will be startled, but angry, that Mrs. Hudson is receiving a guest that is not Sherlock, that Lestrade meets somebody in a car park related to a murder and that John is getting ready for a date with Mary. One in which he will propose.

But then comes Sherlock.

He leaves his coat at the entrance and the restaurant boys open the doors. John has no clue, he knows of nothing at all. But Sherlock walks and sees him.

And it all comes rushing back.

In his eyes, there is no more flamboyance, no more showing off. The years that he had to spend away from John and all the people he had considered close roughened him. He lost touch with what it means to love and be appreciated as a man and not as a detective.

So that now, when he is so close to everything, when he is so close to getting his life back, his friend back, his joy and motivation and himself, his name, his existence back… He is afraid. In a way different from when he was getting ready to kill himself.

He is afraid of going back. He is afraid of John.

Because he understands too well what he had forced upon him.

After 18 months with Sherlock, the military doctor was feeling at the height of his life. Everything was different, the pain and the loss he had suffered during the war had diminished and he had found a man to keep him at the top of his wits and powers. Nothing was boring, everything was new. Each day was special and he had a special mad man to share it with. Say what you will, Johnlock shippers, but Sherlock saved John’s life.

He gave him something to live for. A case. The excitement. The jokes. The unexpected.

Himself.

photo 2 (2)And Sherlock saw that his death killed John too. He saw him running to check his pulse, he saw the sheer sadness in his eyes when he felt no beat. He watched him break down and cry at his grave. The guilt of pushing John into depression once again, the guilt of making Lestrade feel guilty of his suicide, the guilt over all the pain that he has left behind, it all rushed over him. In those few seconds, he remembered and it all collapsed.

He may try to outlive God to have the last word, but he outlived himself. And he was left speechless.

John had moved on.

photo 3 (2)

He had a girlfriend and in a few glimpses, Sherlock had definitely read that the relationship was serious, that he was going to propose, everything he needed to know about Mary and John’s lifestyle. He’s Sherlock, he knew it immediately. That triggered the insecurity. What should he say? What could he say?

Everybody had moved on. His death had passed. The marks remained, but their lived went on. Except his. He had died in his fake suicide. Sherlock Holmes had died in disgrace and only a consulting detective with no name remained. What was he? What did he have to do to start it all over? To move on? To become a real person again?

His look says I. Don’t. Know.

And for the first time in his life, Sherlock Holmes stopped knowing what to do.

Sherlock. Is. Back.

Sherlockology is down for the moment and I am an emotional wreck. I am wrapped up in my purple blanket, the colour of Sherlock’s shirt and all I want is to sob uncontrollably until my eyes are red and raw and my hands shake. I want to cry, but I’ve been in too much control for the past couple of months to sob now.

I. Can’t.

I can’t, it’s like my eyes are dry on the inside.

photo (35)And I’m not even the only bloody one. The live-streaming was full, the internet was full, BBC must have reached a hit audience tonight. We are sado-masochists, to force upon ourselves the pain of Reichenbach… for A PREVIEW OF SEASON THREE!!!!!!

I really got you there, didn’t I? I’d go through the whole Stormy Sea and all of Valyria, Mount Doom and Erebor again. I’d do that if what awaited me at the end is what I got. I would have.

But there’s no more reason on troubling myself with such things.

We got our preview!!!!!!

Sherlockology is down. How insane is that? How insane is the fandom, to take down one of the most popular websites of our generation? How many could we possibly be? Lots, apparently.

Sorry for being incoherent, I’m happy and elated and I’m texting my best friend to wake up and watch it, even if it’s past midnight here. It’s… I’m happy. All there is to say.

60520_620012501365393_1374324114_n

Sherlock is coming back. Mrs. Hudson is calm, everybody seems to be noticing him and by the way they look, poor Lestrade has put on some weight and some more grey hair, Mycroft isn’t even surprised and John…. John is waiting for his date. And by the way he is dressed, it is not Sherlock. And by Sherlock’s face, he didn’t know that there was even the slightest possibility of another date. Poor man, coming back from the dead and realizing his best friend has a loved one.

Following the filmed scenes on the Internet, I have a hunch John will punch him outside the restaurant. He’ll punch him hard in the nose. The Chief Superintendent shall be pleased.

Happy now, guys? Happy? Elated?

EXCITED?

CAUSE I FREAKING AM!

We’re BACK, BABY!!!!!
